Insipiring future engieneers, coders and architects. STEM week at Doha British School, Al Wakr, Qatar.

Successful online Presentation- Exchange between The Doha British School Wakra in Qatar, and Practeria , when students (aged 10 to 15 ) were introduced to the importance of STEM subjects in Engineering, and of ‘Engineering’ in today’s world.

It was a great pleasure for Practeria’s CEO, Magdalena Riley, and its Chief Engineering Officer, Mike Saxer, to present ,under the title of “My Colleague the Robot”, these various themes: “ What is Engineering”, ”Engineering in everyday life”, “The technologies involved in Manufacturing & Engineering”, “Manufacturing” , “ Products of manufacturing” and probably the students favourites, ”Engineer of the Future” and “Women in Engineering”, followed by a ‘Live Demonstration’ using Virtual Reality headset to illustrate some steps of 3D printing in manufacturing.

The students feedback , as expressed by Laura Ann Pearson, Subject Leader of Science at DBS Wakra, was both gratifying and exciting : “ The children are saying they’ve been inspired to become engineers, coders, architects and so on and so forth. It’s been a truly wonderful and unique experience for them.”

Practeria would like to thank Steven Miles, the Principal, Stephen Braithwaite Head of Primary, David Walton, Head of Secondary, Thomas Keech and of course Laura Pearson for organising this presentation and giving us the opportunity to share our passion with these young students.
