Reading engineering drawings in Augmented Reality
- Representing machining parts in Augmented Reality
- Learning how to read and understand engineering drawings
- Visualising parts and assembly of the end product by looking at engineering drawings
We have designed an Augmented Reality (AR) application on a mobile phone to help CNC Machine Operators learn how to read and understand engineering drawings. By applying our AR application onto printed copies of a 2D drawing the Operator can see all necessary lines and curves of the drawing in 3D. The AR application displays 3D model of parts that the Operator has to machine. It then shows animation of parts’ assembly process helping the Operator# to visualise transformation of the parts into a final product.
